Jennie Campbell is a professional photographer, avid hiker and Special Educator. What started off as a hobby of taking pictures while traveling and hiking, has turned into a learning experience for her students and a passion for her own photography business. She captures exceptional visual stories about what we see and feel through pictures.
I did most of my upbringing in a small town outside of Orlando, Florida. During my graduate year, I visited Denver for a conference, where I saw snow fall for the first time. I moved to the Denver area after I graduated from Florida State University 13 years ago. Yes, I am a transplant, but Colorado is home and it is where I feel most alive. I am a teacher for students with moderate to severe needs at the elementary level. About six years ago, I went on my first “real” hike up in the mountains. The fresh air, the quiet nature and getting lost on the trails for hours really helped me realize how big our world is, and how I wanted to share that with my students who may not always have the ability to get out into the backcountry. Over the years, hiking has also turned into my Mental Health relief. It allows me to step back from the world, take a breath and reset in nature.
I have always been into taking pictures since I was a little girl, and I was fortunate to be able to travel with my family. Photography and hiking have become my hobbies, my passions. I’m that girl who will bust out a tripod and set up my camera on a hike when I have found the perfect shot. Over the years, as I was teaching my students about certain topics, I would tell stories about experiences I had, or bring in pictures to show them that I have been to a specific National Park, a certain National Monument or even one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World. Eventually, it turned into sharing my adventures weekly. I saw their interests rise and their academic scores increase. I realized it was time to bring the outside, IN. I thought what better way to fine-tune my abilities with photography, continue to travel and hiking on the weekends, and then to bring these experiences back to the classroom and share them with my students!
After many friends, family and businesses have inquired about taking pictures for them, it’s about time I officially set up JCam.Photography. I specialize in travel and lifestyle adventures. Have an idea in mind?
